| Radiant Days is a work in progress, a collection of loose pieces that will evolve and grow. It is a repository for everything I have done that has not been absorbed into a larger project. Its fluid, nonlinear arrangement allows you to travel among the pieces in a variety of ways. It is a labyrinth, a kaleidoscope, a mosaic. The writing is fragmentary, ranging from a single sentence to a few paragraphs. The images are flashes of experience rather than a deliberate body of work. Even if some of the pieces seem unfinished, they are likely to stay that way, because I am a believer in the fragment as an artistic form. The design of the site makes it easy for me to add and subtract new fragements at will, or move things around without effort. Radiant Days is meant to be many things: a portfolio of work in many media, a repository for ideas and a resource for future experiments, and a demonstration of web design and programming. Above all, it is meant to be explored and enjoyed. |

| The original Radiant Days, produced in 1990, was a compilation of my favorite writing up to that point, along with a few simple drawings, which I printed and distributed to a handful of friends. Its subtitle, "Fragmentary Fiction for People with a Short Attention Span," captures its spirit, as well as the spirit of the current version. My idea at the time was to reissue Radiant Days in a series of new editions as I went through life, carrying forward the old material and adding to it as I went along. Only since the advent of the internet has this become easy to do. As time goes on, I hope to add video and sound files to the writing and still images you see now. But Radiant Days will always include at least some pieces from the original 1990 edition, and it will always carry its history within itself. |
