my problem
I want to talk about my problem. It began when I was little. An old priest in my village thought there was an insect spirit inside me. He could hear it talking in my stomach. So every morning I'd go see the priest and he'd put his head against my stomach and listen to the spirit. Then one day he started poking needles into me. The needles didn't hurt but I had to walk around looking like a cactus. The day he put the needles in, that night a strange smell came from my sex organ. The next morning I had liquid running out. I went to the priest and he collected it in a small bottle and put it on a shelf. "You'll be dried up in a day or two," he said, "and the insect will be gone." He took the needles out and sent me home.
My problem is, I never dried up. I went to see a doctor in the city and he asked me what was the matter. I told him I had an insect spirit inside me who wouldn't come out. He took a bunch of samples on cotton swabs and handed me a bottle. "Rub this on your parts," he said, "whenever they start to itch. If it doesn't get better in three days, take these." He handed me some pills. I went home to the village and did what he told me, and after three days I took the pills. My head felt funny but nothing else happened. The liquid was still running out. So I was ashamed and I went to live in a cave by myself. When people walked by on the path, they could tell someone was living down in the cave. Sometimes they'd call to me and ask my name, or where I came from. "I have an insect spirit in me," I told them. "It won't come out. I came here because I'm ashamed for other people to see me like this." If they had any food they'd give some to me. Without them I would have died.
