a normal life
"Why do you care so much about me? Why don't you just put me to sleep like the rest of the Wild Boys you capture?"
"Because we've got something special in mind for you. You're going to be set free in the city like a rat in a maze. You're an intelligent young man, and we know that sooner or later you'll find the Underground."
"You think I'll lead you to them."
"Of course our surveillance isn't perfect. If it was, we wouldn't need you. You could slip through our net into a zone unknown to us, in which case you and your allies will be safe—at least for now, until we can flush you out again."
"What makes you think I'll go along with it?"
"You've got no choice. You can't get out of the city without contacting the Underground, and you won't be able to stay in the city long without meeting them anyway. It's inevitable. People with similar viewpoints are drawn together. No one can survive for long without human kindness. You, away from your tribe? You'd be killing yourself."
"There's such a thing as Wild Boy discipline. I won't serve you, I'll fight you. I'll go to the city and live a normal life."
