| Here I am in the center aisle, headed toward the stage. The electric organ is playing a song I wrote. I'm smiling and applauding as I walk toward the stage. I'm in front of the stage now, and the show host reaches down with both hands to help me up. Now we're both on the stage, smiling and applauding. We're applauding each other. I'm applauding him because he's such a great host, and he's applauding me because I'm such a great guest. There's not a sour note anywhere. The organ is playing my song. |
| "Hi, Bert," I say. |
| "How you doing?" He's shaking my hand, patting my arm, brushing his hand across my suit. |
| "Happy as a cat with a saucer of milk," I say. "I have a song for you." I start to sing, smiling at the show host. He's looking down at his feet, tapping his toe. |
