Jesus’ DNA Found

A new documentary will appear on the Discovery Channel next month which claims to have identified the burial boxes of Jesus, his mother Mary, his wife Mary Magdelene, and his son Judah. The bones themselves have been reburied, but microscopic amounts of DNA have been recovered, which means the Jesus family could one day be cloned! The Globe and Mail of Canada tells the story.

Although the evidence…is hardly definitive, it is compelling.
Inscribed in Hebrew, Latin or Greek, six boxes—taken from a
2,000-year-old cave discovered in 1980 during excavation for a housing project in Talpiyot, south of Jerusalem—bear the names: Yeshua [Jesus] bar Yosef [son of Joseph]; Maria [the Latin version
of…the English Mary]…Yehuda bar Yeshua, or Judah, son of Jesus; and in Greek, Mariamne e mara, meaning ‘Mariamne, known as the master.’ According to Harvard professor François Bovon, interviewed in the film, Mariamne was Mary Magdalene’s real name. […]
If the evidence adduced is correct, the bone boxes, and microscopic remains of DNA still contained inside, would constitute the first archeological evidence of the existence of the Christian saviour and his family.

The announcement provoked this thoughtful remark from a spokesman for the Catholic Archdiocese of New York:

Every Christian knows that Jesus the son of God and man died and rose again on Easter Sunday. No alleged DNA test or Hollywood film is going to change that.

This is more or less what they said to Galileo when he announced that the earth orbits the sun.

Look what some people (3rd comment, on his blog) have to say:
“I figure Jesus got his X chromosome from Mary, but his Y chromosome is interesting. The way I see it, this very special Y chromosome belonged to God. It’s from God’s sperm.”

The way he sees it, of course…

Many syncretistic religions formed gnosticism. Gnosticism was rivaling against Christianity and gnosticism held itself better religion as Christianity was. Word gnosticism comes from Greek word gnosis, which means knowledge. Gnosticism had various effects, for instance, some Gnostics taught that divinity can be achieved through unity of the man and woman. This thought led some Gnostics to reach for divinity through sexual intercourse between the man and woman. There existed also some Gnostics, who abstained from sexual intercourse. When we know the fact that Gnostics held Christians as their enemies and that Gnostics held themselves better as Christians and that Gnostics wanted to show in every way that Gnosticism was better as Christianity, so Gnostics made so called gnostic gospels were they twisted, slandered and misrepresented the real gospels. Gnostics went so far in this misrepresent that they wrote “new gospels” by faking the real gospels. In these faked gospels Gnostics wrote that Jesus Christ was an ordinary man who has a sexual relationship with Mary Magdalene.
